All members of the NEWSFLOW project are passionate about automated text analysis. Most of us work on a daily basis with computational techniques to understand how information spreads in today’s media ecosystem. For example, our talented PhD candidates Mónika and Zilin are working on the nitty gritties of getting messy web content into neat tables and perform advanced NLP techniques.
With the growing potential of automated techniques, a wider community of social science researchers is becoming interested in automating (parts of) their text analysis. For that reason, GESIS is organizing workshops centered around Computational Social Science this fall. Two members of our team, Damian and Anne, will teach one of the courses that is part of this seminar, focused on applied machine learning using Python. We are looking forward to discussing some of the key techniques that also take center place within the NEWSFLOWS project!
